We're Richards Cattle Co. - a family operation settled in the southwest corner of Iowa. Most days you can find us "cowing" around with a little cattleman in tow. We're first generation but source our knowledge and work ethic from our fourth generation roots. We're proud of where we started and what we've built.

In 2008 Bret purchased his first set of commercial cows, all while dabbling in the registered cattle business. He'd see a good one and do whatever it took to own her. Even if that meant buying the whole lot just for one cow. Over the years, both the commercial and registered herds have grown in quantity and quality. In 2021 we held our Inaugural Production Sale and it has been quite the ride ever since.

We raise cattle with the commercial man in mind. These cattle are efficient, with a ton of natural thickness, and are built to put pounds on without breaking the bank. We've built this program on a strong maternal base from legendary cow families within their breeds. We feel a good cow family will take you farther than any other trait and we're always looking at cattle that perform and produce.
